Great value and local neighborhood vibe. Good for travelers on a budget who want to avoid typical touristy areas. Room was clean and had a comfortable bed. Wifi was free.

Location was difficult to find at first and slightly inconvenient for public transportation. The room was small and lacked storage space.

Proximity to Forbidden City, Spacious suite. TV over bed. Comfort of bed. Airconditioning. Helpful desk staff, speaking English. Internet free to room

Female on tour desk had no interest in helping us. Restaurant not appealing. Room cleaned poorly often.

Well-accessible via a bus stop. A recommended base for exploring Beijing

    Cannot find any fault.

The hotel is located in a great area of the city, away from tourist areas. It is close to the metro station, making it convenient for exploring. The room was small, but clean and comfortable. The staff provided good service and were friendly. The breakfast buffet offered a variety of options at a reasonable price. there were several food shops and a Chinese restaurant nearby, offering delicious dishes such as eggplant and freshly made pasta.

The hotel had poor standards of cleaning, especially in the shower room. The shower appliances were rusty and the tiles were moldy.

Staff are very helpfull and the hotel is next door to the Forbidden City

The room is less than fair size and what bother me the most is the persistence of the musty smell

The hotel had excellent cleanliness and facilities. The room was spacious and well-stocked, providing everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, making my experience even better. The location of the hotel was superb, being conveniently close to all the main attractions I wanted to see. Additionally, the hotel provided transportation services to the airport, making my departure hassle-free.

    No issues.

Overall I had a very good experience at Shatan Hotel. The staff were very friendly, and helpful, the hotel room was very clean and housekeepers came daily to clean up. The location is convenient, not that long of a walk to major attractions, right next door to Jinshan park and forbidden city. The hotel is always so quiet, Im' amazed! The breakfast in the restaurant was so-so, I prefer Alley's cafe down the road with delicious breakfast and coffee! The only issue I had was that you could smell smoke in the room if someone else was smoking in another room. It's annoying if you're not a smoker. I recommend this hotel.

Smell of smoke in room that comes through the vents

location superb, within walking distance of Forbidden City. Excellent restaurant, beautiful food at suprisingly reasonable prices, however restaurant staff spoke almost no English. Very good breakfast at low cost. Front desk staff efficient, helpful and with good English. city tour operator based in the hotel lobbly had good selection of tours at prices not much more expensive than operators on the street.

Terrible location except for forbidden city,,, virtually impossible to get taxis. Hotel reception not willing to help in any way.

The location of this hotel was perfect for our city break in Beijing. It was within walking distance of the Forbidden City and other popular attractions. We also enjoyed the fact that there was a cafe nearby that served American style breakfasts and offered free internet service. Another great aspect of the hotel was that our room had no windows, which made it incredibly quiet and dark in the mornings.

One negative aspect of the hotel was that the bathroom had a bit of a strange smell after showering. the hotel did not have Wi-Fi access in the rooms, only in the lobby, which was a bit inconvenient.

The location is quite convenient and I really appreciate the friendly staff, especially Betty, she was really helpful in giving me information and advises. I also booked a tour to the Great Wall that she suggests and was perfect!
